To provide a scholarship for outstanding present or potential candidates for a Master of Planning and Community Development degree at the University of Colorado Denver.
Trafton Bean made an indelible mark on Boulder's urban development landscape as the city's inaugural Planning Director, a position he held from 1951 to 1954. His visionary approach and strategic planning laid the groundwork for Boulder's subsequent growth and development.
Following his impactful tenure, Bean steered his expertise into establishing the consulting firm, Trafton Bean & Associates. His firm quickly became a beacon of expertise, catering to the urban planning needs of twenty-three cities and fourteen counties across the expansive Rocky Mountain region. Through his guidance, these municipalities flourished, benefitting from Bean's keen insight and innovative solutions in urban development and planning strategies.
