Todd Arcomano, MD, Residency Endowed Fund

To provide support for the Surgery Residency Program within the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

This fund will provide resources to improve patient care by enhancing the quality of life, education and personal care of surgical residents, including but not limited to career development, financial needs, mentorship, and student awards in memory of Todd Arcomano, MD.

Todd graduated Rutgers College Class of 1979 and Georgetown Medical School Class of 1983, where he also completed his surgical residency. Todd joined General Surgery practices in Washington DC and Reno, NV, but spent the greatest part of his career in the VAMC in Reno, NV; Grand Junction, CO, Boise, ID and finally Denver, CO where he retired at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in 2020. His greatest joy came from teaching surgical residents and he was the recipient of the Dr. Edward J. Bartle Teaching Award at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus numerous times.

Todd touched the lives of every student, resident, colleague and even passers-by in the hallway – with his kindness and enthusiasm. He knew the name, family and background of close friends and acquaintances alike and brought joy even in brief conversations. With his encouragement, he helped friends remember the joy and pleasure in caring for patients as well as taking time off to relax, revel in nature and sometimes just enjoy the company of friends and family and conversation. Todd was never-endingly thoughtful and giving, literally giving the shirt (well, jacket-anyway) off his back to anyone in need, and often giving much more. For many, he was the friend and new family member that provided advice and compassion through difficult times; an anchor of positivity and realism whose reassurance was worth more than he’ll ever know.
